Cooperative Care Dog Training in South East London

We provide private Cooperative Care dog training led by a highly experienced dog trainer working across South East London. Cooperative Care is a specialised training approach that teaches dogs to become willing and active participants in their own care. From nail clipping and haircuts to veterinary exams, dogs encounter many types of care throughout their lives—some of which can feel overwhelming or distressing.

With Cooperative Care, we empower your dog by introducing choice and control during these procedures, building their confidence and making these experiences more comfortable. Whether it’s a routine grooming session or a vet visit, our training ensures your dog feels secure and supported every step of the way.

If you live in a different area, we would be happy to offer remote training over Zoom.

Would this be useful for my dog?

Cooperative Care training is for every dog. It is ideal for us to prepare puppies, who haven’t yet experienced the vet or groomers, for what those experiences will be like. It is also a valuable tool for dogs that have already had those experiences and may feel negatively towards vet and grooming procedures.

Day-to-day benefits

This type of training is not limited to vet and grooming procedures; some dogs struggle with day-to-day handling such as having a bath, putting on their harness or putting on a jacket. Cooperative Care training helps dogs in every area of their life to feel more comfortable around people and novel items.

Areas of life we can help improve

  • Bathing
  • Brushing
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Cutting hair
  • Cutting nails
  • Handling all areas of the dog’s body
  • Administering ear and eye drops
  • Administering injections
  • Applying ointments to the body
  • Putting on a harness or jacket
  • Wearing a muzzle

And much more!

Cooperative Care Training

This pack is for 1 x 1 hour session and 1 month of online support. The first session is an initial consultation where we will discuss cooperative care as a concept, assess where your dog is at and then come up with a training plan together. I will also give you some foundational training activities to get you started.

The majority of the work we do together after this will take place over Whatsapp or Zoom as I will ask you to send me regular videos of your training sessions. This is because I want to see your dog learning in their natural environment without distraction or coercion by my presence. This is essential in cooperative care.

You will have access to me via Whatsapp for 1 month to send me as many videos as you want and ask any questions that come up. I will review each video, give you feedback as well as follow up tasks.

From here, we can either book in another in-person session or continue working together online for a monthly fee.

  • 1 x 1 hour orientation and practical training session
  • 1 x month of Whatsapp support
  • £100
